My Favorite Quarantine Snacks

My Favorite Quarantine Snacks

I’m a snacker.  Give me a 24-7 menu of tiny bites and I’m a happy momma!  And these hunker-down days have created a routine of daily snacking that I’m not terribly opposed to… my hips and waist will argue, but that’s for later.  For now, I wanted to share my my most favorite bites that always make me do a food related happy dance.  Grab a few of these to try on your next grocery store run and thank me later:

  • Hippeas Organic Chick Pea snacks, Siracha Sunrise flavor:   Overlook the chickpea concept for a hot minute… they don’t taste pasty or beany, instead, they are airy and crunchy, salty and a bit spicy…like a healthier version of a cheese puff.  These are the kind of snack that I could easily devour the entire bag in one sitting but I roll it up and stash it away so I can share the joy two days instead of one.
  • Turkey Hill Mocha Swirl Ice Cream: We’ve started a routine of evening ice cream and right behind the local icecream master, Bonkey’s, is Turkey Hill Mocha Swirl.  It’s the perfect blend of coffee and chocolate, nothing bulky and crunchy within, just smooth creamy heavenly goodness.  (I add whipcream and Hershey’s chocolate on top, then swirl to make soup…don’t judge).
  • Cherrios Chocolate Peanut Butter cereal: It’s not my typical breakfast choice, but instead, I snack on this dry from a cup or with almond milk for dessert.  It’s satisfyingly sweet and crunchy, doesn’t leave you feeling all guilty, and is quick…all the things I love in a good snack!
  • Tostitos Tortilla chips – Lime flavor: Oh sweet yumminess.  I don’t even sully these chips with any sort of dip.  These chips are simply marvelous just on their own. I could lick the flavoring off of the chip, quite honestly.  (I don’t, but I could…).  They are the right size for a several chomp consumption, offer a good crunch and a perfect combination of salty and tangy.
  • Guacamole: I prefer my own homemade guac, (It’s not difficult), but in a pinch, the homemade prepared guac by Giant will suffice.  Guac is a heavenly addition to almost anything…I put it on eggs, toast, inside a burrito with chicken or black beans, scooped with a tortilla, or over rice.  Yes, I know it’s extra (insert some Chipotle humor…)
  • Bitchin’ Sauce: My friend Cara introduced this sassy dip to me and I prefer it paired with a bag of carrot chips.  It’s creamy and just slightly spicy and wickedly addictive.  Plus, I feel somewhat edgy and tough dipping from something called ‘Bitchin Sauce’.
  • Snyders Twisted Pretzel Sticks – Seasoned flavor: Run, don’t walk and grab a bag of these salty and mildly spicy pretzel rods.  Cole borrowed my bag and I haven’t seen it since.  It’s got a 2-3 bite crunch, is coated in just the right amount of flavoring and would pair nicely with the Bitchin Sauce noted above!
  • Kashi GoLean Cereal: Chocolate Crunch or the Peanut Butter flavors: A great breakfast option or an anytime sweet snack.  Also great over yogurt, maybe even ice cream (haven’t tried that, but as I write this I’m nodding my head in agreement with myself).  Plus I feel somewhat healthy eating anything by Kashi, so there’s that.
  • Oilly Undeniable Beauty Multi-Vitamin: Not officially a snack, but since I mentioned healthy, I chew two of these before brushing my teeth, and they’re kiiiiiinda sweet, so it miiiiight count as a morning snack?!  I feel better and I love the chewy, grapefruit flavor.
  • Bare Naked Crunchy Toasted Coconut Chips: This one is a favorite among Maya and I.  It’s great mixed in granola, over yogurt or straight out of the bag.  Crunchy (I’m noticing a pattern here) and sweet, and just the right size to slowly munch.  Plus it doesn’t leave me feeling super guilty, which is never fun.
  • Cinnamon Buns...they've become a Sabbath Standard and I'm not complaining... you can buy the premade rolls in the refridgerated cookie section, but Tim has been making them from scratch.  (he's awesome).  And since calories don't count on Sabbath, I'm totally good.  ;)

I hope you will consider trying one of my favorite snacks…what a better time than a Quarantine to try something new!  Let me know what you think and please share any snacks you’ve been loving lately!
